Water Utility Mission Statement: The Water Utility's mission is to provide safe water for potable consumption for the citizens of Baraboo and also provide both flow and volumes of water for adequate fire fighting capabilities.

Sewer Utility Mission Statement: The Water Resource Recovery Facility's mission is to provide treatment of the wastewater generated by the City of Baraboo and 3 other municipal entities to levels meeting or exceeding the discharge limits set by the Department of Natural Resources.

PSC FINAL Decision -2024 WATER Rate Increase

On June 14, 2023, the PSCW approved the City of Baraboo Water Utility's Simplified Rate Case application granting an 8% inflationary rate increase effective January 1, 2024. (The 8% inflationary rate increase factor was set by the PSCW on February 15, 2023).

Public Notice of "2024" WATER Rate Increase

In accordance with PSCW requirements, the "Notice of Rate Increase-WATER customers of the City of Baraboo Water Utility" related to the Simplified Rate Increase application filed with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) on June 6, 2023, was published in the Baraboo News Republic on June 3, 2023.

The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is prepared each year with the sole purpose to inform our citizens about the quality of the City's water. The Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources requires each water utility to provide this notification to their residents. The Spring/Summer edition of the City's newsletter also includes a QR code to access the Water Utility's current report.

Current Utility Rates:
The City of Baraboo Water Utility rates are established by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) with the current rate file being effective January 1, 2024. (PSCW Authorization:360-WQ-103)

Charges approved under (PSCW Authorization: 360-WQ-103) include general metered water service based on meter size, volume (water usage), in addition to charges for PUBLIC fire protection service. The PSCW also adopted fees for PRIVATE fire protection along with Miscellaneous fees such as service reconnections, special billings (final bills) outside the Utility's normal billing cycle, missed appointments along with a charge for customer payments not honored by their financial institution under (PSCW Authorization: 360-WR-103) effective June 24, 2021.

Each year, the City of Baraboo Public Safety Committee makes a recommendation to the Common Council to adopt the City of Baraboo Wastewater Utility rates effective for the first quarter billing of the applicable year.
